Font stacks that work across Windows, OS X, and Linux

The fonts on my blogs are chosen for uniformity of appearance across multiple operating systems. There are no rare fonts, and no dissonant fallbacks for common ones. The comprehensive collection of fonts installed on my computer is for reading other people's work. If other people are kind enough to read my work, I just don't want my fonts to get in the way. Therefore, when I inspect my work in my preferred browser under my preferred OS on my preferred machine loaded up with my preferred fonts, I want to see, as nearly as possible, the same fonts that my technophobic readers see.
